Partner Search: Balancing Food Security, Bioeconomy, Climate and Biodiversity Objectives to Unlock Sustainable Value Chains Call

A European-Turkish research consortium is preparing a proposal for HORIZON-CL6-2026-01-CIRCBIO-09 topic, focusing on sustainable non-food agricultural value chains that balance food security, bioeconomy development, climate objectives and biodiversity protection. The planned project will investigate how sustainable non-food agricultural value chains can be developed in ways that support farmers, rural regions, SMEs and policymakers. The project will focus on value chains that make use of residues, waste streams, underutilised biomass and ecosystem services, rather than encouraging the diversion of productive food-producing land toward non-food uses.

The consortium is seeking partners with complementary expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Research and Technical Expertise
Natural capital accounting, environmental accounting, agricultural economics, ecosystem-service valuation, food-security assessment, land-use modelling, biomass supply-demand modelling, biodiversity indicators, carbon farming, nature credits, payments for ecosystem services, climate impact assessment, rural development, consumer behaviour, and social sciences and humanities.

Agricultural and Practitioner Expertise
Farmer organisations, agricultural cooperatives, producer associations, farm advisory bodies, farm accounting organisations, living labs, rural innovation hubs, and organisations with direct access to farmers and agricultural case-study regions.

Industrial and Market Expertise
Bio-based industries, biorefineries, circular materials companies, biomass processing companies, agricultural SMEs, bio-based chemicals and materials producers, nutrient recovery companies, certification bodies, carbon farming operators, nature-market actors, and organisations working on market uptake of sustainable bio-based products.

Policy and Regional Expertise
Regional authorities, agricultural agencies, environmental agencies, rural development bodies, policy support organisations, and innovation clusters capable of supporting demonstration, stakeholder engagement, replication and policy uptake.
